Read previewIn the wake of US and UK airstrikes in Yemen early Friday, Russia sought to portray itself as an opponent to impetuous Western aggression. Zakharova said the strikes showed a "complete disregard for international law" and were "escalating the situation in the region." AdvertisementYemen's Houthi loyalists lift their weapons as they take part in an armed parade on December 20, 2023, in Amran province, Yemen. The Houthis say they are acting in support of Palestinians amid Israel's attacks on Gaza, and are targeting vessels bound for Israel. A wider conflict in the region would divert Western focus away from helping defend Ukraine from Russia's invasion, and sap Western resources.

Gottheimer criticized UPenn for including Waters and Hill as festival speakers in a letter posted the day after the University released its statement. “Situating those individual Palestinians and our allies in league with actual antisemites is wholly irresponsible and dangerous.”At the festival, speakers acknowledged the allegations of antisemitism and denied them. It said they were notified 48 hours before the event Waters wished to show up in person, but that would have required additional security unavailable at short notice. ‘Felt like home’Planning the Palestine Writes Literature Festival took endless hours, according to Abulhawa. The GCC is a six-nation regional union that comprises Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. "The secure energy supply from the UAE has supported Japan's economic growth for many years," Kishida wrote in a piece published by UAE state news agency WAM on Sunday.

New York CNN —David Bohrman, a former veteran CNN producer and executive who pioneered the use of the “Magic Wall,” died Sunday following complications after hip surgery, according to his family. He joined CNN in 1998 and later became the network’s Washington bureau chief and senior vice president. In 2004, it was his idea to anchor CNN’s election coverage from the floor of party conventions. Four years later, he implemented the Magic Wall, a touchscreen display featuring up-to-date voting data on election nights, which is now a staple of CNN’s election coverage and commonly used by other broadcasters. “His decision to take then just emerging touch-screen technology and integrate [it] into our 2008 election coverage was nothing short of revolutionary.

"I can’t believe that this belonged to Saddam and now I'm the one moving around it," he said. But it was targeted by U.S.-led forces, and later capsized in the Shatt al-Arab waterway as it fell into decay. In the turmoil that followed Saddam’s downfall, the yacht was stripped bare and looted, with everything from its chandeliers and furniture to parts of its metal structure removed. One of three yachts owned by Saddam, the yacht could accommodate up to 200 guests and was equipped with a helipad. U.S. officials estimated in 2003 that Saddam and his family may have amassed up to $40 billion in ill-gotten funds.

Not even closeThough largely unknown in the West, sand hammams — or sand baths — are anything but new. Desert camps in Morocco are offering sand hammams, or sand baths, to travelers. Sand hammams are not advisable for anyone with blood pressure or heart-related medical problems, due to the intensity of the heat. Due to the sand's mineral composition, sand hammams are also used to combat skin conditions, such as acne, psoriasis and other medical ailments. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, also offers treatments on a hot sand therapy bed in a dedicated psammotherapy suite.
